The Lost Acres Fire Department is always looking for new members – no previous experience required. To be eligible to join you must be between the ages of 18 and 55. Applicants will need to pass a background check and a medical examination prior to being placed on the department waiting list.
New members are added to the department waiting list where they have the ability to go to fire calls and all department functions and training. To become a full active member of the department, the member must complete the State of Connecticut Firefighter 1 certification and obtain a license to drive and operate all LAFD apparatus. After completing these requirements, the chief of the department places the individuals name up for membership where it is voted on by the department.
